I'm thinking auto to manual swap. She looks pretty clean though. Got the cup holders in there?

I think you are right CaffineTripp.

Started it up at the PO place and it runs real good other than sitting for 4 months, lifter noise that went away, but it did blow blue smoke the whole time but I let run for about 20 minutes and it got better. PO says the tranny is bad and i have the one out of the donor car sitting there so i am going to put it in and see if it pulls itself. If so, then great, if not, manual swap will be in the works. interior is in very good condition, does have the cup holders, dash is in really good shape unlike the 92. car has the familiar bumper damage and some cancer on the right rear along with dings here and there, but overall pretty good. 134K miles. I drained the tranny last night, the fluid was at the top of the opening for the dipstick, not sure if that had something to do with it, but the oil that came out of the tranny was black and smelled bad. this weekend i should get the donor in and test it out.

Yep. A pretty bright red too. Seems like a pretty nice car. Time for a tune up and a bit of a resto job if you're not going to use it for track purposes.

this past weekend I finally finished the installation of the donor transmission. took several attempts to get it in, silly torque converter kept coming out of the spline for the trany. after resolving that and getting it bolted back in, put 4 qts of tranny fluid in just to be cautious and not waste a lot of oil in case something goes bad.

fired it up and everything was fine, except there was a clanging sound from the lower end. turns out that one of the bolts for the flex plate was either not torque all the way and backed out or i forgot to tighten it all the way. I am going with that it backed out, no way it was me that forgot to tighten it. :banghead:

so once that was resolved put as much back together as needed to test it out and see what happens. backed it out of the garage and tried drive and it pulled itself back into the garage, checked for any leaks then took it around the block making sure that it shifted into all gears and all was good.

here it is in front of the 92

here it sits in the driveway:

so now i plan on putting the rest together and fix just the few odds and ends and then make a decision on what to do with it. I have another daughter coming along soon that will need a car, so i might just keep it and let her drive it . we will have to see.
